myPOS bank feed: get your transactions into your accounts automatically
myPOS doesn’t offer a bank feed for any of the main accounting packages. For Xero, QuickBooks and Sage, nobody else is allowed to build one either. Those platforms only accept feeds from banks and certified partners, so unless myPOS builds it, it doesn’t exist. Odoo is the exception, because it’s open source. We build a myPOS feed for Odoo that imports your transactions automatically, every day, with nothing for you to do.
Why there’s no myPOS feed for Xero, QuickBooks or Sage
It isn’t an oversight and it isn’t because it’s difficult. Bank feeds on those platforms are gated:
- QuickBooks runs bank feeds through Intuit’s Financial Data Partner programme, over a separate protocol from its normal developer API. There’s no route where a developer signs up and builds one.
- Xero requires App Partner status and certification to use its Bank Feeds API. Everything else arrives through open banking connections with the banks themselves.
- Sage’s equivalent is designed for banks and financial institutions to push data in.
- FreeAgent works through open banking and approved providers.
The practical effect is the same in every case: only myPOS could build these feeds. Everyone else is locked out, however much the customer wants it. And myPOS, so far, hasn’t.
Odoo is different
Odoo is open source. There’s no partner programme to join and no certification to wait for. A feed can simply be built and connected. That is the whole reason this is possible at all.
So if you take payments through myPOS and keep your books in Odoo, you can have exactly what you’d get from a high street bank: transactions appearing on their own, ready to reconcile.
What you get
- It just arrives. Your myPOS transactions and settlements appear in Odoo automatically, on a schedule. No exports, no uploads, no spreadsheets.
- Nothing to remember. It runs unattended. There’s no monthly job that gets forgotten in a busy week.
- No duplicates. The feed keeps track of where it got to, so if a run fails it picks up cleanly instead of double-posting.
- Your history too. We can load past transactions from any date you choose, so you’re not starting from a standing start.
- Any currency myPOS settles in.
What it saves you
The CSV shuffle costs more than people realise. Exporting from the myPOS portal, mapping the columns, importing, spotting the duplicate, doing it again. It’s an hour or two a month at best and it tends to slip.
What slips gets expensive. Unreconciled card takings are the single most common reason bookkeeping bills come in higher than quoted, because someone ends up doing three months of it at once. Clean transactions arriving on time means less to unpick, a shorter bill and no chasing.
Most people who ask us about this aren’t looking for anything clever. They want to stop thinking about it.
Which accounting package do you use?
| Package | Automatic myPOS feed? | What we can do |
|---|---|---|
| Odoo | Yes | A full automatic feed. Transactions arrive by themselves. |
| Xero | Not possible for anyone but myPOS | We can automate the export and formatting so the import becomes a one-click job instead of a fiddly one. Or we can talk to you about Odoo. |
| QuickBooks | Not possible for anyone but myPOS | As above. |
| Sage | Not possible for anyone but myPOS | As above. |
| FreeAgent | Not possible for anyone but myPOS | As above. |
We’d rather tell you that up front than sell you something that can’t work. If you’re on Xero or QuickBooks and the manual import is driving you mad, the honest options are to automate around it or to move. We can talk you through both.
How it works
- A chat. Which myPOS account, which Odoo, how far back you want to go. Ten minutes is usually enough.
- We build and connect it. Usually days, not weeks.
- We check it against your statements so you can see the totals agree before it goes live.
- It runs. We tell you how to check it and then you stop thinking about it.
Other payment providers
myPOS isn’t the only provider missing from the standard feed lists. SumUp, Zettle, Viva Wallet, Revolut Business, Tide, Wise and others have the same problem to varying degrees. If you use something your accounting software can’t see, tell us what it is.
Common questions
Does myPOS have a Xero integration?
Not for bank feeds. Xero only accepts feeds from certified partners and aggregators, so it would have to come from myPOS. You can import myPOS CSV files into Xero manually.
Does myPOS integrate with QuickBooks?
Not as a bank feed. QuickBooks routes feeds through Intuit’s Financial Data Partner programme, which is separate from its ordinary developer API, so only myPOS could set one up.
Does myPOS integrate with Sage or FreeAgent?
Not as an automatic feed, for the same reason. Both take feeds from banks and approved providers.
Can I connect myPOS to Odoo?
Yes. Odoo is open source, so a feed can be built directly. That’s what we do.
Will it bring in my old transactions?
Yes, from whatever date you choose.
How long does it take to set up?
Usually days. The connector already exists; what varies is your setup and how much history you want.
What if it stops working?
It resumes from where it left off rather than skipping or repeating transactions. We monitor it and you can check it yourself in seconds.
Just fancy a chat about it?
You don’t need to know what you want, or have a project in mind. Most of our conversations start with someone describing the bit of their week that feels like it shouldn’t be this hard: the export, the rekeying, the thing they do every month that a computer should obviously be doing by now.
Tell us what’s irritating you and we’ll tell you straight whether it’s fixable and roughly what’s involved. If the answer is that it isn’t worth automating, we’ll say that too.
